AM Top 5 ‘But God’; When Times Are Tough but God is Tougher (Part 1)

AM’s editorial team compiled a list of Top 5 Bible verses that contain “But God.” Even when a situation is difficult, we can always remember God is great and living, so we should not fear. Always remember “But God.”

10 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever -Psalm 73:26

What is man but Dust and Ashes as Abraham put it while praying for Sodom and Gomorrah? Our flesh is so weak and our emotions volley back and forth based on circumstances. But in the end, God had given strength to his people; renewing heart’s based in his love.

“But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish.”  Psalm 9:18

No matter what the situation, God has not forgotten you and your needs. Two examples come to mind: after the promised 400 years of slavery in Egypt, The Lord says in Exodus 3:7

“I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.” And can we ever forget the need for salvation and how he fulfilled that?

” I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.”  – 1 Corinthians 3:6

Another healthy way to view this powerful phrase is to remember that, “unless the Lord builds the house, it’s laborers build in vain”. We can do so much, but God must do it all. If not, it’s all for nothing.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

Verse 7 explains the limits and potential of human love- dying for another, and this shows the glory and might, amazing depth that God has. But God defies all logic and reason and loves us while we are far from lovable.

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) Ephesians 2:4-5
